Third Grade

Learning Personal Responsibility

Growing in Wisdom and Respect

A note from third grade teacher, Sonia Ponce

I am so excited to come alongside your third grader as they grow in wisdom and respect throughout the school year!

In our third grade classroom we focus on being faithful to our Lord, Jesus Christ and expanding our knowledge of his teachings through the lens of personal responsibility and respect. We learn how to apply Biblical knowledge to real life problems with a special focus on serving others, such as through our annual trip to Feed My Starving Children.

Academically, we also focus on practical applications of what we learn about reading, writing, problem solving and independent work skills. Students learn through hands-on projects like their Interactive Book Report or our Flat Stanley Geography Unit. My goal is to engage your child’s mind and heart through in each subject all year long!

Our third graders participate in Computer Science, Spanish, Music, Physical Education, and Art each week, along with other special classes they join with the rest of DGCS children. Through exciting field trips and guest teachers, we bring community heroes and professionals to life.
