Welcome to Kindergarten at Downers Grove Christian School!

We’re thrilled to partner with you as your child begins their academic journey in our full-day kindergarten program. Kindergarten at DGCS is a special time for growth, exploration, and foundational skill-building, setting the stage for success in elementary school and beyond.

Our classroom environment nurtures each child’s unique needs, focusing on spiritual, academic, and emotional preparation. By creating a caring and cooperative space, we ensure students feel encouraged to learn, grow, and develop both independently and within group activities.

Academic and Spiritual Foundations

Our curriculum centers around core subjects such as phonics, reading, math, numbers, handwriting, art, and physical education. Each lesson integrates the Bible, helping students understand God’s truths about kindness, love, and respect in a way they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Extended Learning Opportunities

In our full-day program, students dive deeper into their core studies with additional activities that reinforce their skills, including expanded reading time, interactive learning centers, art, music, and computer sessions—all designed to encourage the practical application of their learning.

Special Classes and Community Engagement

Each week, kindergarteners enjoy a variety of special classes, including Music, Art, Computer, Spanish, and Physical Education, alongside fun field trips and inspiring guest speakers. These experiences connect them with community heroes and professionals, enriching their understanding of the world around them.

No matter where your child is on their academic, spiritual, or emotional path, our Kindergarten program offers a nurturing and supportive environment for them to thrive.
