Preschool
Preschool is Christ-Centered
A note from our Preschool Teachers Jenny Kusreau, Jennifer Haywood, Sharon Nese, and Kelly McCaig:
Our mission as Preschool Teachers is to set a Christ-centered foundation for your child’s future education, starting with the most basic of academic building blocks: how to learn.
From counting and letters to our weekly Bible story, preschoolers spend their days practicing learning skills that they will use throughout the rest of their academic career. We employ a multitude of developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to address each child’s individual needs, including whole group, small group and individual instruction, as well as exploration of the physical environment and investigation of classroom manipulative and materials, creative art, building materials and cooperative play.
Through a weekly Bible story and verse, children learn about the fullness of God’s love for them through Christ. We meet our preschoolers where they are and lovingly challenge them to grow in self-control, academic skills and their relationship with Jesus.
We explore the wonders of God’s creation through weekly science themes, as well as build math and reading skills using number recognition, letter and number formation and letter sounds. A typical day might include award-winning curriculum like Handwriting Without Tears alongside activities like letter journals, games and stories.
Our Preschoolers participate in Music, Computer and Physical Education each week, along with the same special classes as the rest of DGCS children. Through exciting field trips and guest teachers, we bring community heroes and professionals to life.
Our comprehensive education provides children with the tools to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically to be the Christian leaders of tomorrow. We are ready to partner with you in raising your preschooler in wisdom and in faith!
Special Note for Preschool 2: Students in the 2-year-old preschool are not required to be potty trained, but must wear a pull-up.
