First Grade
Inspiring Lifelong Learners
A note from our first grade Teacher:
Is your child ready to learn and grow? I’m excited to come alongside your student as they start their elementary education in first grade! We have several pillars around which we focus the academic year: God’s love and the plan of salvation, personal responsibility, independent working habits, reading, math and basic computer skills.
Our foundational pillar for the year is learning about God’s love for each and every one of us, and understanding the plan of salvation on a personal level. As a class, we also focus on personal responsibility in our school habits and how we treat those around us.
Academically, students work to build and strengthen basic skills in reading and math while developing independent work habits. We continue their kindergarten technology education through programs that help them become familiar with computers at an appropriate level.
Our first graders participate in Music, Physical Education, Art and Computers each week, along with other special classes they join with the rest of DGCS children. Through exciting field trips and guest teachers, we bring community heroes and professionals to life.
I’m so excited to see how your child grows during this very important first grade year!
